William "Tony" Ottinger

William Anthony Ottinger passed away on April 29, 2026 at the age of 69 from sleep apnea. He went peacefully in his sleep.

William "Tony" "Toehead" was born on October 24, 1956 to William John Ottinger and Donna Yvonne (Larson) Ottinger at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Tony graduated from Altoona High School in Altoona in May 1974, and soon after he graduated, he joined the US Navy.Tony served from 1974-1979 as Second Class Petty Officer (E-5), completing class A and C Naval School training in food services and leadership management.Tony was a cook on the ship.

Tony graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Major in Healthcare Administration.Tony worked various jobs throughout his life, including as a foreman for Osmos Wood Preserving in Buffalo, New York, security guard, and Ashley Furniture until he retired.

Tony married Joanne Robilia and together they had a beautiful daughter, Christine. They later parted ways.

Tony loved to hunt and fish with his buddies and gardening and cooking were his passions .Tony was a great cook, and after serving in the Navy, he still cooked like he was cooking for an army.

Tony is survived by his daughter and his grandchildren; sisters, Jacci Kolstad and Shelly Rae Rossano; his niece, Melissa Hobson; his nephews, James Kolstad, Nathan (Alyssa), Joshua (Paige), and Brent (Katie); his niece Stephanie (Pete) Graner; and several great nephews and nieces.

Tony is proceeded in death by his father, William John Ottinger; his mother, Donna Larson Ottinger Michaels; his brother, Greggory Dallas Ottinger; his grandparents, Joel and Minnie Larson; his grandfather William John (Doc) Ottinger and grandmother Hattie and step grandfather Everett Wheeler; his niece, Jenie Davis; and his nephew Rusty Joel Hobson.

Funeral services will be on June 23, 2026 at 2 PM at the Spooner Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin with Military Honors for his years of service in the Navy.

Talbot Funeral Home in Mondovi will be handling the arrangements for the services.
