Sheryl L Rothering

On July 31st, the world lost a remarkable woman, and our family lost its heart. Sheryl Lynn Rothering, of Waumandee, Wisconsin, passed away at the age of 64, leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to shape all of us.

She was born July 26th,1962 in LaCrosse, WI to Blair and Jean (Schurhammer) Voter. She graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City and was in the class of 1980. She furthered her education at Minnesota Southeast Tech in Winona, MN and received her Associates Degree in Accounting. She married the love of her life, Alleyn Rothering on April 4th, 1981.

Sheryl was the kind of mother who showed up — for every milestone, every crisis and every ordinary day. She taught us resilience not through lectures, but through the way she lived: steady, brave, and full of love.

Sheryl loved farming with her husband, Alleyn and son Jeremy on the family farm - Valley Springs Farms, Inc. She wore many hats from accounting, cow records, milking, feeding calves, and much more. She was the president of the National Farmers Organization (NFO), enjoyed working with local farmers at the Buffalo County Farm Service Agency, taught CCD classes for many years in Fountain City, and cherished her time being her daughter's girl scout leader throughout their childhood. Her six grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved sharing life on the farm with them, baking banana bread, playing board games, and sharing her love of reading books.

Sheryl is lovingly survived by her husband, Alleyn, son, Jeremy (Tara) Rothering, daughter, Jeanette (David) Taylor and daughter, Katie (Mark) Fox; Six grandchildren: Aliea, Connor and Kalynn Taylor, Wyatt and Owen Rothering and Lettie Fox; Her mother, Jean (Schurhammer) Voter and brother, Todd Voter.

She was preceded in death by their infant child, Sammy, father, Blair Voter, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Rosella (Schlesser) Rothering, sister-in-law, Tammy Voter, brother-in-law, Daniel Berg, niece, Becky Schlesser, and Sheryl’s beloved dog, Jake.
