Ruth Marie Wald

Ruth Marie Wald, age 83, of Alma, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha. She was born on October 27, 1934 in Alma, a daughter of the late Albert and Leona (Bade) Herold. Ruth attended and graduated from Alma High School. On June 7, 1958 Ruth was united in marriage to Kenneth Wald at St. Paul and St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Alma. To this union, three daughters were born. Before her marriage, she worked at the Alma Farmers Union as secretary. She then, after her marriage worked side by side with her husband on the family farm located in rural Alma. In 1977, Ruth and her family quit farming. This is when she began working at the Alma Hotel until her retirement. Ruth was a devoted member of St. Paul & St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Alma, serving many years on the Ladies Aid. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 224 in Alma. Ruth enjoyed her time with the Alma Garden Club. While on the farm and after, Ruth loved to tend her many gardens. Ruth will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 60 years, Kenneth; daughters, Linda Meisch, of Lewiston, MN and Cynthia Youngs of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, Nichole, Christopher, Jessica, Alexandrew and James; four great grandchildren, Jayden, Niko, Lilianna and Knox with one on the way; twin sisters, Jane (Andrew) Noll and Jeanne (Lyle) Hofer; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Karen Wald and brothers, Lyle and Roger Herold. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel. Burial will follow at Tell Cemetery.
