Ruth Elsie Gleiter

Ruth Elsie Gleiter, age 89 of Cochrane, WI passed away January 8, 2015 at the Winona Hospital in Winona, MN. She was born on March 22, 1925 at the home of her parents, Oscar and Minnie (Stuber) Miller. Ruth attended and graduated from Cochrane High School. She then moved to the Twin Cities where she worked at various places. On April 3, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Myron G. Gleiter. To this union, two sons were born. Myron preceded Ruth in death on September 20, 1993. Ruth and her husband worked many years, side by side, on their farm. Even as the farm was passed down to her sons, you could still find Ruth in the barn helping them milk. Ruth will be remembered not only for her hard working ethics but also for her love of flower gardening, raising beautiful houseplants and of course her chickens and the collecting of them. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Frederic and Curtis both of Cochrane; sisters, Betty Lou Meier of Mondovi and Lois Lyngdal of Nelson, WI; nieces and nephews, Rita (Tim) Geary, Judy (Paul) Maasz, Mary (Mark) Otterstatter, David (Susan) Putz, Sandra McClelland, Gerald (Holly) Meier, James (Ronda) Meier, Cynthia (Thomas) Salwey, Shelly Helgeson, Lori Glass, Lisa Harter and many great nieces and nephews, and by other important family members. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Myron, sister, Edna Putz; niece Karen Dietz, and nephew Dale Gleiter. A visitation will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Cochrane on Tuesday January 13 at 5:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will be at the church on Wednesday January 14 at 2:00PM with an hour of visitation prior. Burial will be at Buffalo City Cemetery.
