Rebecca Jane Larson

Rebecca Jane Larson, age 62, of Ellsworth, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Brotoloc Brookside surrounded by her group home family while under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born on July 26, 1955 in Mondovi, WI a daughter of Robert and Joyce Larson. Becky was baptized at Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church in rural Eleva. Being born with downs syndrome, it was suggested that around the age of four, that Becky be brought to Northern Colony in Chippewa Falls. From there she was relocated with a group of 8 girls to Strom’s Group Home in Ellsworth. Even though the group home has changed hands over the years, it was here that Becky remained to live a full and active life. Becky worked for IRC and ProAct. Her favorite job was shoe leather. Becky retired several years ago due to her deteriorating health. Becky loved to participate at the Special Olympics where she won many ribbons and trophies. She enjoyed dancing, bowling and ice cream from Dairy Queen with her favorite being chocolate. Becky also enjoyed hamburgers or chicken along with a diet coke. Becky’s favorite movie was the Disney production of “High School Musical” where she developed a crush on the character “Troy”. Becky will be remembered as a sweet and adorable person to whom everyone loved. Becky is survived by her group home family; brothers, Vern (Becky S.) Larson of Osseo, Steve (La Zette) Larson of Twin Falls, ID, sisters, Betty Larson of Eau Claire and Jolene (Miles) Moyer of Mondovi; Aunts Lenore Larson of Mondovi and Maxine (Paul) Badker of Vesper; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A celebration of Life for Becky will be held 11:00 a.m. at the Community Center at Zion Covenant Church in Ellsworth. Following the service there will be a luncheon served at the Church community center for all those to continue to celebrate Becky’s life. The staff of Scenic Rivers Cremation Center assisted the family with arrangements.
