Raymond D. "Butch" Waldbillig

Raymond “Butch” David Waldbillig, 79, of Mondovi, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Advent Health, Durand, Wisconsin.

Butch was born on August 31, 1946 to Raymond and Selma (Rud) Waldbillig. He grew up in Milwaukee and lived there until he joined and served his Country in the United States Army on Dec 7, 1965 and was honorably discharged on Dec 6, 1968 as a SP5 E-5.

Ray, was a highly skilled tool and die maker and was a longtime employee at Rexnord Chain and Belt Division in South Milwaukee. Following his retirement he moved to Mondovi, Wi. He made many friends along the way, but his best friend was his Lord. If he were to read a book, it was his Bible. He was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy (Nichols); his daughter, Laura Steinmann; son in-law, Ward; his two grandsons, Justin and Jason; his nephews, John, Terry and Curt; and his niece, Julie, as well as many members of Peggy’s family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi.  Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Riverside Public Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.

Peggy would like to thank the staff at Mayo Hospital Critical Care Unit and Advent Health in Durand. As well as a very special Goddaughter, Sonja Kamla, who without, Peggy would not have been able to get through this time of uncertainty.
