Raymond Donald Iverson, age 96, of the Town of Albion, Trempealeau County, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Beehive Homes in Eau Claire.
Raymond was born on March 1, 1927 on the family homestead farm, to the late Albert and Emma (Wenaas) Iverson, the same farm that he lived and worked throughout his entire life. Raymond attended the Plainview Grade School.
Raymond honorably served his Country during WW II as a soldier in the United States Army and was stationed in several foreign countries, such as France and Germany.
While Raymond attended the Northern Wisconsin State Fair in Chippewa Falls little did Raymond know that he would meet his future wife, a young lady, named Rose from Rib Lake. Raymond and Rose were united in marriage in Rib Lake on October 19, 1957. To this loving union, four children were born. Together, Raymond and Rose farmed and raised their family on the Iverson family homestead farm in rural Eleva. Rose recently preceded Raymond in death on September 27, 2023.
He was a faithful member of Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church and served the church in several different capacities.
Raymond was a lifetime member of the VFW, Alton Johnson Post 6550 of Strum and the American Legion, Post 459 in Eleva. Raymond’s love for his country and those that served was profound and evident by his dedication in providing military honors to his fellow fallen heroes. Raymond would also make sure that all veterans laid to rest at Trinity of Norden Lutheran Cemetery were properly acknowledged with graveside flags and markers.
Raymond will long be remembered for his love of his grandchildren. The time he spent with them hunting, fishing or telling stories from years gone by will live in their hearts and be treasured forever.
Raymond will be sadly missed by his children, Carlene (John) Bruha of Eau Claire, Doug Iverson (significant other, Pam Rud) of Eleva, Denise (Carl) Genrich of Osseo and Steve (Christine) Iverson of St. Louis Park, MN; grandchildren, Eric (significant other, Stacy Lynn) Iverson and Andy (Britni) Iverson; Zach (Katie) Genrich and Benjamin Genrich; Amber Genrich (significant other, Alex Moldenhauer); Jacob and Kallen Iverson; 7 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sisters, Arvilla (Bob) Schmidt and Stella Iverson.
A memorial service for Raymond will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church with Pastor Luke Pederson officiating. Inurnment, with full military honors, will follow at the church cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials, in the name of Raymond Iverson, be directed to Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church.
Raymond’s family would like to take this opportunity to give a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of St. Croix Hospice for all the exceptional care and love given to him while under their care.
