Paul “Rhino” Karl Krueger, of Buffalo City, WI passed away October 29, 2025, surrounded by family and love after a 16-month courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 23, 1963, in Hinsdale, IL to Arthur and Katherine (Krolak) Krueger. Raised in the Chicago area, Paul was a proud Cubs fan who attended many Cubs games. He was lucky enough to see them play in 4 different stadiums throughout the years and finally got to see his beloved team win the World Series in 2016. Though he was a Chicago area native, his blood ran Green and Gold as his football allegiance belonged to the Green Bay Packers. Paul earned his GED and later earned a Tool and Die Degree from the Winona Area Technical College in Winona, MN. In 1987, Paul met the love of his life, Karla, and the two married in 1991 in Cochrane, WI. Together they built a life centered on laughter, love, and family. Then came their daughters, Katie and Kenzie who were his pride and joy, and his love for them was unconditional. Just two months ago, Paul was overjoyed to welcome his first grandchild, Sydney, who brought him comfort and smiles throughout his cancer battle. Paul enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing whenever he could. The hunter shot a 10-point buck on his father in law’s land, which he proudly displayed. He also loved trips to the casino, where he had a knack for winning big even when betting small. Over the years, Paul worked at various places, including Peerless Chain, RTP, and most recently for the C-FC School District. He was a man who truly loved a good meal. In classic Paul fashion, he’d often start planning his next plate before finishing the one in front of him. Food, family, and laughter were some of his favorite things in life and he found a way to enjoy all three at once whenever he could. Paul’s passion for sports ran deep. A standout slow-pitch softball player for the Athletic Club in Winona, MN, he manned the hot corner with skill and heart until an arm injury ended his playing days. But that setback opened the door to something even more meaningful — coaching his daughters in C-BC Little League softball. Summers were spent on the diamond, helping “his girls” improve day after day and leading them to countless wins. His players adored him, not just for his knowledge of the game but for the humor, energy, and confidence he brought to every practice. They loved Coach Papa Paul! Paul’s personality was larger than life. If you met him, chances are he made you laugh — and probably left you with a story you’d tell for years. His quick wit and genuine warmth made him unforgettable. He loved cheering on his daughters in their own sports and activities, spending time with his dog George (his four-legged twin in both spirit and attitude), and enjoying his time at the family farm — his happy place. Whether shooting Tannerite, tending to projects, or just relaxing in his man cave, Paul found peace and joy there. aul will be remembered for his laughter, his love of loud music, and his ability to make life more fun for everyone around him. His spirit will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.
Paul will be sadly missed by his loving family: wife Karla Krueger of 34 years; Daughters, Katie (Kiefer) Neumann and Kenzie (Brad) Chandler; his precious granddaughter, Sydney Neumann; His mother, Kay Krueger; Brothers, Brian Krueger and Kurt (Lisa) Krueger; two nieces, two great nieces and a great nephew; two grandpups, Ivy and Ginnie, his beloved bulldog, George, as well as many friends and distant relatives. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Art Krueger; Brother, Mark Krueger; Father and Mother-in-law, Wally and Barbara Gahnz, and many good friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff members of Emplify Health of La Crosse, Winona, Wabasha, the Scenic Valley Ambulance Service, as well as Winona Area Hospice for the loving care given to him throughout his cancer journey. His family is so proud of the battle he fought, giving it his all until the very end. A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date.
