Patrick J. Weiss, 83, lifelong resident of Gilmanton, WI, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN on June 18th. He was born in Eau Claire, WI, on May 13th, 1937 to parents Arnold and Ilma (Schultz)Weiss.
Patrick graduated from Gilmanton High School in 1955 and continued his lifelong devotion to the family farm. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1959-1965 as a cook, while continuing his true passion of farming full time.
In 1979, Patrick married Judith Borgan in Lime Springs, IA. He continued farming and also began working as a sub rural carrier for the US Postal Service in 1980. He accepted a full time rural carrier position in 1997, which he held until retiring in 2011, all while still actively farming.
His love of farming was unmatched. He loved milking, planting, harvesting, mowing, chopping, baling, feeding, and nurturing cattle. At the end of the day, he always enjoyed a cold beer.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Judith, son, J.Michael (Ashley), granddaughters Harper and Blakely, brothers Robert (Lorena), Dennis (Beverly), David (Jean), and sister-in-law Janice. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Alda and Larry (Wrobel), and brother Gene. In light of current events, a celebration of life will be had at a later date.
