Monica Jo Peterson Brantner

Monica Jo Peterson Brantner, age 64, of Mondovi, passed away in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 22, 1958 the daughter of Howard and Grace (Moats) Peterson.

Growing up in Mondovi, Monica attended Mondovi schools, graduating with honors from Mondovi High School with the class of 1977.

After high school, Monica enrolled at CVTC, where she earned her Associates degree in accounting.

Monica worked various jobs in Mondovi including  Polzer, Hagness law office and then started a career at Marten Transport, retiring in May of 2023 after 26 years of employment.

She married Jeff Fitzgerald on April 21, 1979 and to this union, two children were born, Jeremy and Jessica. They later divorced.

Monica later married the love of her life, Frank Brantner, on July 4, 2009.

Monica was a longtime and faithful member of Central Lutheran Church and was active in many aspects of the church, such as serving on the church council and helping with the many church events like the annual Central Fest.

She enjoyed bowling, golfing or spending time outdoors up north at the cabin with her family and friends.

Monica will be remembered for her wonderful smile that would light up a room and her gracious heart…a heart that cared for all.  Monica would put the needs of others before her own.  The most treasured part of Monica’s life was the love she had for her entire family, especially her precious grandchildren.

Monica will be dearly missed by her husband of 14 years, Frank Brantner; children, Jeremy Fitzgerald and Jessica (Zach) Miller; step children, DJ (Monica) Brantner, Lindsay (Ryan) Anibas and Kyle (Leslie) Brantner;  her mother, Grace Peterson; sisters, Melody (Todd Bergner) Peterson, Melissa (Rod) Spindler and Michelle Peterson; 13 grandchildren, Hunter, Autumn, Brody, Arbor, Berkley, Micah, Aryah, Archie, Lilah, Finn, Rhett, Ryker and Ramsi; sisters in law, Misti Embree and Kristi (Mark) Maggard; and by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Monica was preceded in death by her father, Howard Peterson; father in law and mother in law, Stan and Eiffel Brantner; brother in law, Myron Embree.

A memorial service for Monica will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Interim Pastor Carl Ames officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery.  A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
