Mary A. Shafer

Mary A. Shafer, age 82 passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side. Mary was born March 27, 1933 to Archie and Anna (Bowen) Harber of Springfield, OH. Mary married Robert C. Shafer June 12, 1966 in Springfield, OH and resided in Mondovi. During that time she worked as a CNA at the Buffalo Memorial Manor until her husband passed away. She later moved to Eau Claire and worked as a home health care worker for several years. During that time she met her companion, Carl "Bud" Setzer. They enjoyed going out to various dinners, dancing, and visiting with friends. They truly enjoyed each other's company. She is survived by her children, James (Carol) Richards of Las Vegas, NV, Michelle (Tim) Blocher of Fort Wayne, IN, David (Carmen) Shafer of Mondovi and Becky (Scott) Prissel of Durand; companion, Bud Setzer; step-children, Carolyn (Robert) Wunderly, Robert (Trudy) Shafer, Jr., Steve (Patty) Shafer, Pam Palmer, Richard Shafer, Kathy MacGregor, Jeannie (Randy) Graham and Sandy (Moe) Reese all of Springfield, OH. She is further survived by 33 grandchildren including step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; brother, Edward; sister, Barbara Hardman; step-daughter, Lesa; step-son-in-law, Dave Palmer; step-grandson, Chuck Webster and niece, Danette Hardman. A funeral service will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes - Mondovi Chapel at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2015 with Chaplain Gary Preston officiating. A visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon. Burial to follow Forest Hill Cemetery, Durand.
