Mary Anne Glentz

Mary Anne Glentz, age 85, formerly of Alma, WI passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Michaels Assisted Living in Fountain City. She was born in the Town of Lessor, Shawano County, WI on August 14, 1935 to Peter and Dorothy (Sigl) Ehlinger. In 1953, she was the first of her siblings to graduate from Wabeno High School. On February 18, 1954, Mary Anne was united in marriage to Louis Glentz at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wabeno, WI. To this union nine children were born. Mary Anne & Louis lived in Rogers City, MI, then Neenah, WI, before moving to Alma for a short period of time while they built a home in Buffalo City where they lived for 15 years before moving into a new home Louis built in rural Alma. They later spent winters in Alabama until moving back to Alma and then St. Michaels Assisted Living in Fountain City, WI. Wherever they had space, they always had a huge garden and had trouble downsizing it after all of the kids left home. Mary Anne’s faith was very important to her. She was a member of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers and made over 50,000 rosaries for prisoners and for the mission in the USA and foreign countries as well as for family and friends. She was also a member of the Scapular Guild and sewed many thousands of brown and green Scapulars. She was in homemaker groups in Buffalo City and Alma and a member of the St. Lawrence Altar & Rosary Society and St. Anne’s Study Club. She volunteered at school and spent many hours sewing clothing, cooking and preserving food from the garden for her family. She was known to create many beautiful tatted items. Mary Anne is survived by her children, Joseph (Nancy) of Winona, MN, Thomas (Polly) of Alma, Timothy of Cullman, AL, Mary Lou (Terry) Briggs of Buffalo City, Rose (Jon) Wisneski of Alma, Andrew of Buffalo City, Mark-Fr. Sebastian, OSB of Sheboygan, Jerome (Tammy) of Holmen, and Lawrence of Fountain City; 14 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters Joan Flannery, Rosemary (Randy) Slacum, Brothers Raymond (Ellen) and Gerald (friend Judy) Ehlinger, sisters-in-law, Alice & Mary Ehlinger, many nieces, nephews and friends.
