Marjorie Thea Van Vleet, 81, of Mondovi, joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Marshfield Hospital in Eau Claire, she was surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 12, 1944, in Mondovi, WI to Milo and Dorothy (Parker) Sie, Marjorie was raised in Canton Township. She attended Canton School in her younger years and graduated from Mondovi High School in 1962.
On April 27, 1963, Marjorie married Ralph C. Bauer at the Lima Church, Lima, WI and together they welcomed a son, Jeffrey Allen. Marjorie was widowed on June 13, 1965. On July 26, 1968, Marjorie married James O. Van Vleet, also at Lima Church. In this union, one son, Travis James, and one daughter, Jocelyn Jo, were born.
Throughout her life, Marjorie was known for her caring spirit and strong work ethic, holding a variety of roles including a nursing role at the Mondovi Clinic, dental lab technician at Damar Dental Lab, Cashier at Menards, a Housekeeper at Dove Healthcare, and a Patient Transporter at Sacred Heart Hospital until her retirement. Of all her roles, Marjorie cherished most her time as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband Jim of 57 years, of Mondovi; three children, Jeff (Laurie) Bauer of Eau Claire, Travis (Mandy) of Altoona, and Jocelyn (Eric) Sundby of Marietta, Georgia; five sisters, Sarah (Merlin) Hollister of Mondovi, Marlys Heckel of Silver Lake, WI, Rebecca (Cal) Raines of Mondovi, Mary (Bryce) Lisowski of Alma, and Jill (Jon) Luedtke of Eagan, MN; ten grandchildren, Jess (Becky), Kearston, both of Altoona, Logan (Ellen) of Camp Pendleton, CA, Karissa, of Eau Claire, Eric (Brooke), Dedric (Rachel), Alec, all of Marietta, GA, Sawyer, Dawson, and Greyson, all of Altoona; great-grandchildren, Bria, Levi, Mazie, Vera, Aria, Evelyn, Soren, Liam, Tripp, and Elena; Brothers-in-Law, Richard “Dick” Bauer, Jerry (Marilee) Tande, Gary Tande; Sisters-in-Law, Bernice (Poeschel) Butzlaff, Mary Ellen (Bauer) Braden, Betty Bauer, Lori Bauer, Jane Van Vleet, and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Milo; brother Robert “Bobby” Sie; her first husband, Ralph Bauer; Father-in-Law, George Bauer, Mother-in-Law, Florence Bauer; Mother-in-Law, Helen Van Vleet; Father-in-Law, Allan Van Vleet and Mother-in-Law Vivian Van Vleet; Brothers-in-Law, George Bauer Jr., Dean Teigen, David Van Vleet, Eugene Heckel, James “Jim” Bauer, Glen Braden, Lawerence “Steve” Bauer; Sisters-in-Law, Deborah Van Vleet, Lillian Bauer, Bette Bauer, Myrna (Bauer) Zwiefelhofer, Rosetta (Bauer) Swartout, and her great-grandson, Ian Szymanski.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Talbot Funeral Home in Mondovi, with Pastor Timothy Heupel officiating. Visitation will be from 9am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will be in Thompson Valley Cemetery.
Marjorie’s warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family will always be remembered.
