LaVonne Vernamarie Comero, age 89 of Cochrane, WI passed away on May 30, 2024, at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living in Altoona, WI on May 30, 2024. LaVonne was born on February 18, 1935, in the serene Town of Glencoe, Buffalo County, WI, to Raymond and Verna (Weltzein) Maier.
She graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City High School in 1953. LaVonne met the love of her life, Jesse George Comero at a dance at Praire Moon. They were married on July 7, 1953 at the Town of Montana United Methodist Church. To this union, four children were born. LaVonne found joy and purpose in her career at Maple Manor Hotel in Eau Claire for many years. La Vonne and Jesse also for 30 years, operated the concession stand at the Horseshoe Club in Eau Claire, where they delighted patrons with their hospitality and camaraderie. After her husband passed away, LaVonne lived with her son in Mondovi.
Among her myriad interests were the art of horseshoe throwing and the rhythm of polka dancing every weekend - passions she shared with her beloved husband. LaVonne reveled in the simple pleasures of life through activities like word searches, following engaging soap operas, and embarking on Mystery Bus Trips with her husband that added an element of excitement to her days. LaVonne engaged in a neighborhood weekly coffee clutch with a group cherished friends that spanned several years.
LaVonne's proudest accomplishments included reigning as an award-winning horseshoe thrower and embodying unconditional love as a devoted mother and grandmother. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of many while her competitive edge shone brightly on the horseshoe pit.
LaVonne is survived by her children Susan (David) Spalding, Jean (Michael) Grossell, Janet (Dan) Lordson, Terry (Joelle) Comero; Grandchildren; Michael (Carly) Spalding, Sean (Sarah) Spalding, Jennifer (Kevin) Kiekhafer, Gretchen (Theodore) Severson-Ritter, Laura (Significant other -Matt Summerfield) Stewart, Chelsea (Jon) Gamble, Jodi (Dustin) Peterson, James (Whitney) Daniels, Jeffrey (Significant other-Sam) Daniels, Craig (Lindsey) Kent, Tucker Comero, and Keaton Comero. Also by 23 Great Grandchildren. Sisters; Carolyn Lisowski and Charlene Adank; sisters-in-law Katie Maier and Janice Maier. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse; sister Glennis Mae Adank; brothers Myles, Raymond Jr., Gail; and great-grandchild Ian Spalding
As we bid farewell to LaVonne Vernamarie Comero, may we carry forward the lessons of love she imparted upon us. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to family, friends, and the simple joys that made life truly special.
A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Cochrane, WI on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again at the funeral home on Friday June 14 at 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM.
