Kyle Robert Stay

Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Kyle Robert Stay, age 46 of Modena passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, due to a tragic lawn mowing accident on the family farm where he grew up.

Kyle was born to Robert and Lynn (Lardahl) Stay on June 3, 1979, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

He was raised on the family farm where he learned early the values of hard work and dedication. As a young boy, he was eager to drive tractor and quickly became his dad’s trusted right-hand man.

He graduated from Gilmanton High School in 1997, where he was affectionately known by many as “Kyle Bob”. Following graduation, Kyle devoted himself wholeheartedly to farm life. Whether working the fields or completing chores, he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand.

Kyle’s greatest joy was hunting deer and turkeys. It was more than a pastime to him – it was a passion rooted in friendship, tradition, and the outdoors he loved. From planting food plots and checking trail cameras to finding the perfect camouflage and shed hunting, Kyle found happiness in every part of the experience. What meant the most to him, however, was sharing those moments with family and friends and celebrating the excitement of a successful hunt together.

He had a way of connecting with people of all ages. Funny and quick-witted, he enjoyed sharing stories, often finding ways to make people laugh. He focused on each day as it came, made others feel at ease with his warm smile, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Kyle will be profoundly missed by his loving parents, Robert and Lynn Stay; his sister, Kami (Ryan) Taylor; his niece, Kyla (Evan Halmstad) Taylor; his nephew, Connor Taylor; his uncles and aunts, Gordy Stay, Gary Stay, Darlene (David) Saxe, Lee Lardahl, and Lyle (Sue) Lardahl; his cousins Nikki (Neal) Hemminger, Bradely (Lisa) Saxe, and Brandon (Chelsey) Saxe; his special family friends, Tim and Jeri Rief, Joe Rief, Matthew Koesterman, Nate Lisowski, Tim Nelson, and Dustin Oesau; along with countless other dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ordy and Arlene Stay, and LaVerne and Elva Lardahl.
