Kent Meyer

Kent Dennis Meyer, age 61, passed away September 12, 2023, at home with his wife by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kent was born Oct 2, 1961, to the late Joe Meyer and Bonnie Svee.  Kent attended school in Elk Mound and worked mostly as a heavy equipment operator for Precision Pipeline, Minnesota Limited, Northern Clearing and Svee Trucking.  He was a very hard worker and took pride in his work.  He also co-operated Chippewa River Campground with his wife before selling the campground and retiring.

With toes in the sand, Kent married the love of his life, Brenda, April 26, 2013, on Panama City Beach in Florida.  Together they raised their 4-legged kids, Dierks and Bentley.  After Kent retired in 2019, they moved to the Chetek area where they got to enjoy more of the things, they loved to do together which included pontoon time, taking rides on the SxS, fishing, golf, trips to the casino, weekend get aways, nights by the campfire and probably a White Russian was included in some of these activities.

Kent loved the outdoors.  He loved to hunt, fish and watch the birds and the deer that came into the yard daily.  He loved to travel.  Kent and Brenda were able to take some wonderful road trips together as well as fun get away weekends.  Kent also loved going to watch dirt track races and cheer on his cousin.  He looked forward to watching some of his favorites on tv as well: Nascar, Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Most importantly, Kent loved his family and friends and was always willing to provide a helping hand when he could.  He was quick-witted and loved to share stories.  He built strong ties with many people that he encountered over the years and this was evident with how many people he stayed in touch with over the years and could pick up on a conversation with them no longer how long it had been since they last spoke.

Kent is survived by his wife, Brenda; Brothers, Mark Hendrickson (Joann)Curt Meyer, Quinn (Shannon) Meyer, Chirs Meyer and Eric Meyer; Stepbrothers and stepsisters, Kris (Danny) Ellrich, Cory (Debbie) Svee, Scott (Sharon) Svee, and Kelly Svee, also by his father-in-law Ray Risler and sister-in-law, Tricia Hopp, and many other close family members.  His memory will be forever in our hearts.

Kent was preceded in death by his dad and stepmom Joe (Pat) Meyer, mom and step-dad Bonnie (Harry) Svee, Step-brother Jeff Svee.

A special thank you to Dr Mihailo Lalich and his staff at Prevea Cancer Center, Tammy with ProMedica and Cindy and Chaplin Mark from HSHS St Joseph’s Hospice for the care they gave Kent during this battle with cancer.

A memorial gathering and service will be at Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Mondovi, WI on Monday September 18, 2023 at 1:00PM until the time of service at 3:00PM. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mondovi.
