Kathleen A. Jencen, age 63, of Buffalo City, WI, passed away peacefully at her home on July 15, 2024.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, on January 26, 1961, to William and Beverly (Bodeker) Sieg, Kathy grew up with a love for life and an infectious spirit. She graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1979 and pursued a degree in cosmetology in Eau Claire, WI. Kathy's passion for hairstyling led her to Bruce, WI, where she practiced her craft for 15 years. It was in Bruce that she met the love of her life, Greg Jencen. They married in Ladysmith in 1998 and made their home in Buffalo City, WI.
For over 20 years, Kathy brought joy and beauty to her clients at Zalon, a beloved local hair salon in Cochrane. Outside of work, she found joy in gardening, delighting in every bloom (minus the weed-pulling!) Kathy was deeply committed to her community, serving as an EMT with Scenic Valley EMS for over five years.
Kathy had a creative soul and enjoyed crocheting and playing a spirited game of Skip-Bo. Her greatest pride, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren. Known affectionately as a loving grandma, she cherished every moment spent with her grandkids. Kathy loved “her boys”. Her Golden Retrievers, Casey, Murfee, and Mylo, held a special place in her heart. She was a proud Vikings fan, never missing a chance to share her team spirit.
Kathy's memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 26 years, Greg, her daughter, Kayla (Phillip) Funk; stepdaughters, Darcy Jencen and Jennifer (Aaron) May; and grandchildren, Jeremiah Funk, Haley Nielsen, Jack Nielsen, Ella May, and Eli May. She is also survived by her siblings, Paul (Darlene) Sieg, John (Roberta) Sieg, Suzanne (Gregory) Dvorsak, Matthew (Christine) Sieg, Phillip (Caroline) Sieg, and Marty (Missy) Sieg, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and dear friend Shari Johnson.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. A committal will be held at Buffalo City Cemetery on Saturday September 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Kathy's life will be at the Cochrane VFW following the committal.
Kathy,
I loved you then
I love you still
I always have
I always will.
