Joyce Engler , of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2022 at Heritage memory care in Eau Claire WI. Joyce was born September 10th, 1928 in Gilmanton WI, to George and Eleanor (Sis) Engler. She was a graduate of Gilmanton High School, and Teachers College.
After completing her courses for teaching at the college, Joyce and her cousin Barbara Plank moved to Bloomington MN where they both taught for 10 years. Joyce and Barb moved back to Gilmanton area and continued teaching and help on the family farm. The farm was one of Joyce’s pride and joys.
Joyce always felt that Barb was more than a cousin, it was more like her sister, as they would talk every day either in person or on the phone. Joyce was always thankful for the help Barb gave to her.
Joyce retired from the Gilmanton (Dover School) in 1993. She moved to Mondovi with her parents when the family farm sold. Joyce lived in the Mondovi house until she moved to Heritage Memory Care in April of 2022.
Joyce loved traveling with her family members. Her favorite stories were from trips to Montana to see cousins, going through the Black Hills and Yellowstone. She was also able to go with nieces to Washington DC and see all the sites, which as a history teacher was a highlight to talk about. Other trips were around the Midwest and up to Canada; but it didn’t matter really where she went, it was always some sort of adventure.
Joyce is survived by her sister-in-law Dianne Engler of Annandale MN. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Pati (Rusty)Harm, Steve (Mary) Engler, Vicky (Steve) Krzoska, Mary (the late Jason) White, Eric (Becky) Engler, Sheri (Trent) Greener. Great nieces and nephews: Nikki (Mike) Dittrich, Angie (Will) Evans, Chad (Melissa) Krzoska, Amber (Nick) Frederixon, Shawn (Stephanie) Harm, Heather (Brian) Asp, Shannon (Donavon) Kramer. There are also 12 great-great nieces and nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents George and Eleanor Engler, brothers Dean and Kenneth Engler, and sister-in-law Harriett Engler.
