JoAnn Elizabeth (Anderson) Pogany, age 77, of Mondovi, went home into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024.
She was born on February 2, 1947 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of the late Bert R. and Dorothy E. (Hardy) Anderson. At the age of 14, along with her parents and siblings, John (17) and Barbara (11), they moved to Holiday Hills in McHenry, IL. JoAnn attended McHenry High School where she would meet her highschool sweetheart, Louie.
On June 4, 1966 JoAnn was united in marriage to Louis R. Pogany at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McHenry, IL. They would go on to have 2 children, Jesse and Jamie. Together in 1975, JoAnn and her husband, with the help of friends and family, built a beautiful brick home in Richmond, IL. This would be a gathering place for family and friends, whether it be Christmas, pool parties, and even Bible studies with the neighborhood kids, for many years.
In 1998, they moved to the Mondovi area after falling in love with the beauty of the bluffs and rolling hills of Buffalo County. It is here that she enjoyed countless hours praying and praising Jesus, while planting and perfecting her amazingly beautiful flower gardens, truly showcasing God's beauty and blessings.
JoAnn was a member of Friendship Church in Mondovi for many years. After moving recently, she joined Harvestime Church South in Eleva. JoAnn’s faith to her Lord and Savior was the cornerstone of her adult life. She would graciously lead Bible studies for both family and friends throughout her life to share the love and hope of Jesus. As a born again Christian, she loved helping spread the message of God's mercy, grace, peace, and love, and would plant seeds wherever she could. Her most important prayer would always be that ALL of her family would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and accept this free gift of eternal life.
She will be remembered for things like her beautiful flowers and decorating sense, her upright character and devotion to family and friends, but most of all her unwavering faith and love of Jesus! Forever remembered as the light of her family; a dedicated and loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and child of God.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Louis; children, Jesse (Maggie) Pogany and Jamie (Nate) Robeck; grandchildren, Kristen (Tysen) Shepler, Alyssa Pogany, Jacob Pogany, Kaleb Robeck, and Katelyn Robeck; great grandchild, Monty Shepler; sister, Barbara McIlvain; nephew, Stacy Lee McIlvain; also by other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brother, John; and grandson, Jordan Michael; and other family and close friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 15th with a memorial gathering at 2pm, Service at 3pm, with meal to follow at Harvestime Church South, 26550 West Mondovi St. Eleva, WI 54738
