Jerome David Klevgard, age 82, of Town of Dover, Buffalo County, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Mayo Health System in Eau Claire.
He was born to the late Archie and Ella (Solfest) Klevgard on February 10, 1941. Jerome grew up on the family farm in the Town of Dover.
Jerome honorably served his country as a soldier in the United States Army from December of 1963 until his honorable discharge in December of 1965.
On August 27, 1966, Jerome was united in marriage to Sharon Dregney at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Together, they raised three loving children.
Jerome lived in Kenosha for some period where he worked for American Motors and Johnson Wax. Jerome and his wife moved back to Buffalo County in October of 1967 and purchased the same farm that he grew up on, where he continued farming the land.
He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in rural Mondovi, serving as church council president for 2 years. He also served on the Ag Co-op for 2 years and served on the Town of Dover as chairman for 25 years. He was also an active and devoted member of the Forrest-Gunderson-Klevgard American Legion, Post 264 for over 45 years, serving as post commander twice and sergeant at arms for over 40 years. One of Jerome’s most treasured memories when he was able to be side by side with his son, Darin on the Freedom Flight to Washington DC, and upon their arrival back to the La Crosse airport, undenounced to him was his entire family awaiting his arrival.
Jerome will be remembered for his unending love for his entire family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerome will be sadly missed by his wife, Sharon; children, David (Tony Mancuso), Wendy (Bill) Remington and Darin (Fiancee, Jessica); grandchildren, Austin and Brian Remington, Leah Klevgard, Maddie, Sydney and Ella Gums; sisters, Beverly Nogle and Mary Jane Knudtson; brother, Duane Klevgard; sisters in law, Liz Poeschel, Linda Pavelko, Mary (Pete) Birschbach and Marla (Dale) Ness; brother in law, Gary (Carol) Dregney; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his brother, LaVerne Klevgard; sisters, Lemay (Adriel) Norberg, Ruth Klevgard and Elaine Norberg; nephew, Jason Klevgard and niece, Debbie Norberg.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in rural Mondovi with Pastor Luke Pederson officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi chapel and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
