Gladys Geneva Loomis, age 92, of Mondovi passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi with her loving family at her side. She was born on June 6, 1922 in Whitehall, WI a daughter of Simon and Gina (Stone) Knutson On April 20 of 1940 Gladys was united in marriage to Orville Loomis at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. To this union, two children were born. Gladys was employed at the Box factory in Arcadia, but was most known as a loving and devoted homemaker and mother. Her Christian faith was evident with her longtime and dedicated membership at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. She will be remembered as a family orientated lady who found great enjoyment in spending time with her precious grandchildren. She loved to watch her grandchildren’s sporting events and one highlight in her life was receiving the game ball from her grandson Lance’s little league team to show their appreciation for her season of support. Gladys will be forever missed by her son and daughter in law, David C. and Sally Loomis of Mondovi; son in law, Allen D. Johnson; grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Whelan, Dustin Loomis, Darin (Weslie Orme) Scott (Darcy) Johnson, Mark (Rhonda) Johnson, Pam (George) Protogere and Todd (Karen) Johnson; Great grandchildren, Nikki (David Gerber) Johnson, Brittany (Brock) Morlan, Erin (Justin) Wendorf, Jenna (Steve) Rebout, Kyle (Fiancee, Sarah) Johnson, Chandler Johnson, Brandon Protogere, Nicholas Protogere, Kiana Johnson, Levi Johnson, Miranda (Dylan) Zahara, Lance (Cherylin Yealey) Parker, Tanner Whelan, Zander Whelan, Julia Whelan, Avery Leiviska, Emerie Loomis and Alana Loomis; great-great grandchildren, Carter and Rylee Zahara, Lola and Lucy Morlan, Payton Rebout and Beckett Wendorf; two sisters, Dorothy Serum and Delores (Lee) Risler; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband Orville, Gladys was preceded in death by her daughter, Marlene R. Johnson; siblings, Hansel, Stella, Alvin, Eldora, Wilma, Wilmer and Lola. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Burial will follow at Gilmanton Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday January 9, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again on Saturday, one hour prior to the services all at the church.
