Edward Joseph Parent, age 79 of Alma, WI passed away on Monday March 16, 2015 at the Plum City Care Center, Plum City, WI.
He was born on October 9, 1935 in Grand Isle, ME to Edmund and Albertine (Corbin) Parent.
Following his graduation from high school, Ed enlisted to serve our country in 1956 as a member of the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge on January 5, 1960. Later that year on June 18, Ed was united in marriage to Arlene Gleiter at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma where Ed and Arlene were still to this day faithful members. Ed was also a member of the Alma Chapter Knights of Columbus. For many years Ed was a self-employed roofer. Ed enjoyed bowling and snowmobiling with friends along with traveling with his wife. Hardly a day went by that you wouldn’t see Ed taking his daily stroll around Alma.
Ed is survived by his wife, Arlene of Alma; siblings, James Parent of Grand Isle, ME, Patrick (Marie) Parent of Winsor, CO, Pauline Levesque of Manchester, CT, Daniel Parent of Caribou, ME, Philip Parent of Plantsville, CT, Leonard (Alice) Parent of Winslow, ME, Alice Mellinger of Quebec, Canada, Sonia Lemieux of Salt Lake City, Romeo (Diane) Parent of Caribou, ME and Edmund (Mary Ann) Parent, Jr. of Manchester, CT; also by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Ed in death was a sister, Edmay; brothers Harold and Louis; brother in law, Morris Levesque and sisters in law, Corrine, Jeannine and Fern Parent. A visitation will be at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma on Wednesday March 18 at 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma on Thursday March 19 at 10:30 AM with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
