Dallas D. Beck, age 81, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 2, 1935 in Waumandee, WI, the son of the late Fern Beck.
Dallas attended Mondovi High School, graduating with the class of 1954.
One night, Dallas went on a blind date with a lady by the name of Dolly Hahn. He fell in love with her, and on August 24, 1968, at Zoar Lutheran Church in Tofte, MN this couple became husband and wife. To this union, one son, Dallas Lowell Beck was born. With heavy hearts, he passed away in 1975.
Dallas was a longtime employee for the City of Eau Claire. He worked in the public works department where operated heavy duty machinery among other projects like caring for the Carson Park Baseball Field. Along with his career at the City of Eau Claire, Dallas also raised a large herd of Hereford beef cattle on his farm in Drammen Township. Dallas was a member of the AFL-CIO union local 284, serving as treasurer for 22 years.
Following his retirement, Dallas and Dolly enjoyed traveling to many different destinations throughout the area, with one of their favorite spots being in Spooner, WI as they spent many days fishing.
Dallas enjoyed playing cribbage and competing in cribbage tournaments and was the proud holder of two “29 hands”. He once traveled to Reno, NV to compete in a large cribbage tournament. He was a fan of Johnny Cash and appreciated the music that he made.
Dallas will be remembered for his kind heart and love of family, it has been said that underneath his exterior is a man of dignity, love and compassion.
Dallas will be sadly missed by his wife of the past49 years, Dolly Beck along with many nieces and nephews that he loved as much as they loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern and precious son, Dallas Lowell Beck.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's United Methodist Church in Mondovi with Pastor Dale Engen officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12 pm until the hour of the service all at the church.
