Bonnie Jean (Larson) Kent, 69, of Gilmanton, WI passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at home. She was born November 21, 1956 to Homer and Bernita (Amundson) Larson Mondovi, WI.
Bonnie attended Naples School, grades 1-6 and Mondovi Public Schools graduating with the class of 1974. She attended CVTC for the Account Clerk Program.
Bonnie was a member of the Naples Novelty 4-H Club where she enjoyed baking, sewing, showing cattle and sheep for a few years. Her first job was babysitting for nieces, nephews and neighboring families. She worked at the M.B. Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire for 2 years. She then decided it was time to dairy farm. Bonnie married Chuck Kent on May 14, 1977 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden. To this union, a daughter and a son were born. They farmed on Laehn Ridge Road (south of Gilmanton) for 22 years. Bonnie said the view from the farm was the greatest for taking pictures and to see storms coming in. More importantly, she knew it was the best place to raise her children. Bonnie embraced farm life wholeheartedly, helping with everything that needed to be done on the farm; milking cows, feeding calves, filling silo, baling hay, hauling, dehorning calves, chasing cows and calves that found an open gate, mowing lawn, tending to her flower beds and vegetable garden. The farm was sold in 1999 and at this time; Bonnie went to work at Ashley Furniture Distribution Services, Marten Transport and then Hutchinson Technology. In May of 2002, Bonnie and Chuck bought the grocery store in downtown Gilmanton, naming it “G-Mart”. In 2011, she once again worked side by side every day with Chuck at the store. The G-Mart was sold in November 2022 and retirement began.
Bonnie found joy in everyday moments. She loved to bake and used Chuck as her guinea pig for new recipes. There were always treats at her house – cakes and bars were her specialty. She started journaling in 1979 about daily life on the farm, special events and weather. She continued journaling for 47 years. Bonnie’s maternal grandmother, Sylvia, journaled for many years also. Bonnie’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her granddaughters Anna, Brook and Ella whether it was playing games, coloring challenges, the Christmas Train, watching their sporting events or just a quick trip to Mondovi – she loved every minute. She loved spending time with family, friends and fun loving girlfriends (you know who you are) – some of her favorites were “Sister Trips” and “Friend Breakfasts”. She loved to get away – San Diego, Las Vegas, Portland, Norfolk and Chicago plus many day and weekend trips. Bonnie also liked to thrift sale, play bingo, Sudoku puzzles, crossword puzzles and Solitaire.
Bonnie leaves to celebrate her memory a daughter Samantha (Mathew) Murray and a son Nicholas (Rachel) Kent, three precious granddaughters Anna Kim Kent, Brook Bonnie Kent and Ella Agnes Kent. Siblings Sharon (Andy) Hager, Nancy (Allen) Risler, Dale (Cindy) Larson, Heidi Perry and Karla Olson (Ron Olson), sister-in-laws Beth (Fred) Zahara, Sharon Kent, brother-in-laws Larry (Kathy) Kent, Scot (Cheryl) Olson, godson Cole (Erin) Olson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, parents Homer and Bernita Larson, brothers David (Lois) Larson and Galen (Pat) Larson, grandparents Gilmer and Sylvia Amundson and Ralph and Mabel Larson, father and mother-in-law Clayton and Agnes Kent, sister-in-law Rosemary Kent, brother-in-laws Merle Kent and Jon Perry.
