Audrey Ann Holien, a beloved matriarch, devoted business owner, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Wabasha, Minnesota, at the age of 83. Born on November 2, 1941, in Winona, Minnesota to George and Violet (Nelson) Pavek., Audrey's life was characterized by her unwavering passion, strong work ethic, and a heart that held space for everyone she met.

For two decades, alongside her late husband David, Audrey proudly owned and operated Dave's Mississippian in Buffalo City, WI. Her exceptional talents in managing the restaurant were matched only by her dedication to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. She poured her heart into the business and embraced every challenge it presented, showcasing her remarkable ability to bring joy to others through her hard work and commitment.

Following the Mississippian, Audrey continued her career at Hearts Desire, MCC, and after 18 years of service retired from the Hyvee in Winona. Each position allowed her to keep in touch with many friends, families, and co-workers with her smile and customer service.

Audrey's roots in Winona, where she graduated from Winona Senior High School, shaped her into the strong and spirited woman many admired. Known for her straightforward nature and infectious laughter, she was a true straight shooter who never hesitated to offer an honest opinion, guiding those around her with a sincerity that exemplified her big heart.

Family holidays were always a special affair, especially when Audrey's famous vegetable salad graced the table, providing a taste of love that all her loved ones anticipated. Her home was a sanctuary filled with vibrant flower and vegetable gardens, where she found joy in nurturing life and sharing its bounty. The beauty of Buffalo City , with its breathtaking river views, blessed her with serenity, allowing her to embrace the great outdoors, whether she was boating or simply relishing the scenery.

Audrey was a proud member of the Hope UCC Church of Cochrane, WI , where she actively contributed to the Hope Kids Youth Program and community. , reinforcing her dedication to helping others. Her myriad of friendships over the years were a testament to her outgoing nature – she treasured time spent with people and made connections that will be remembered fondly by many.

She is survived by her five children: Ben (Dawn) Holien, their children Karson and Keira; Kay Aanestad, her children Kellen, Paige, and Zoe; David "Joe" (Kristin) Holien, their children Morgan and Chris; John Holien and his children Sophia and Thor; and Kirk Holien. In addition to her cherished children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, Audrey is remembered by nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who are grateful for the moments they shared with her.

Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husband, David, and her grandson, David John Holien; four siblings, Robert Pavek, Donald Pavek, Delores Corey, and Virginia Strand; and Brother-in-law and Sister in-law Jim and Jean Malanaphy. The love and memories she created will carry on in the hearts of all who knew her, as her vibrant spirit and unwavering love will forever echo in the lives she touched.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma, WI, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 - 7: 00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Hope United Church of Christ, Cochrane, WI on Friday, August, 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior. Burial will follow the service at the Buffalo City Cemetery, Buffalo City, WI.
