Arnold “Arnie” Lee Hager, 85, of Buffalo City passed away at Sauer Health Care in Winona, Minnesota on September 22, 2026.
Arnie was born on August 31, 1941, to Elmer and Dorothy (Massen) Hager. He graduated from Alma High School in 1959.
He married Alice Loewenhagen and to this union three sons were born – James, Randy and Rick. They later divorced.
On August 16, 1974, Arnie married Mary (Staudacher) Lorenz.
Arnie loved the outdoors, whether it be hunting deer, turkey, squirrel or grouse, fishing or gardening. He and Mary took great pride in their garden every year and did a lot of canning. They also were cat lovers and didn’t turn away any cats that showed up at their doorstep. Each one was given a name, was well fed and well taken care of.
Arnie honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army for two years and enlisted in the U.S. Reserve for another four years.
His welding career spanned over forty years as an employee of Badger Construction in Winona, Minnesota.
Arnie will be sadly missed by his sons, James (Special Friend, Brenda Skidmore), Randy (Judy) Hager and Rick (Special Friend, Barb Schultz); his grandchildren, Craig (Christina) Hager, Kelsey (Special Friend, Jeffrey Lowery), and Mikayla (David) Bergman; his great-grandchildren; his stepdaughters, Mary Lou (Joe) Seifert and Cathy Lorenz; his step-grandchildren, Jami (Micah) Davis, Mitch Seifert, Katie Briggs, and Harley Paul; his sister, Donna Kulig, and his sisters-in-law, Cleo Hager and Kathy Hager; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; his brothers, John and Carrol; his granddaughter, Chelsea Hager; and his brother-in-law, Jim Kulig.
A Celebration of Arnie’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Talbot Family Funeral Home – Alma Chapel. A visitation will be held at the same location on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sauer Health Care and Winona Health Hospice for their excellent care of Arnie through the years.
