Alan McCoury, age 67 of Mondovi, died on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 19, 1950 and grew up in Georgia. He was the son of Edgar and Lavada (Terry) McCoury. Alan was an over the road truck driver all his life and loved the open road. He married Karen Sloat (Schuster) in 1998. Alan loved the Georgia Bulldogs, golfing and his corvette. He especially loved his family and spending time with his grandkids.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Karen of Mondovi; children, Mandy McCoury of Kathleen, GA and Tony McCoury of Macon, GA; step-children, Jennifer (Dave) Roetter of Mondovi, Erica (Brian) Hink of Cleghorn and Adam (Melissa) Schuster of Cleghorn; brother, Mike (Pam) McCoury of North Carolina; grandchildren, Lauryn (William) Walker and Ashlyn Bernhard; step-grandchildren, Brittany Hink, Trent Roetter, Emelia Schuster and baby Schuster due in April; brothers-in-law, Rick Sloat and Ronnie Sloat; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Christopher McCoury and sister-in-law, Linda Sloat.
A memorial service will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes - Mondovi Chapel on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Pastor James Whatley of Peace Church officating. A vistation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service. Private burial will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery.
