William "Blu" Larson

William A. “Blu” Larson, age 56, of Mondovi, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, April 11. He was born on October 11, 1955 in Mondovi, a son of Ruth Colby Larson and the late Earl “Ole” Larson. Blu attended Mondovi schools, graduating from Mondovi High School with the class of 1974. On June 16, 1990 Blu was united in marriage to Jeanne Mertinki at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. To this union two loving sons were born. Jeanne and Blu later divorced. Blu worked at County Materials in Eau Claire and later worked for Lunda Construction before returning to County Materials in Eau Claire. Blu was a past member of the Mondovi Conservation Club. Blu found enjoyment playing many different sports, and loved to participate in slow pitch softball. Blu was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. As Blu watched his sons grow, he found great pleasure in watching them participate and excel in their sporting events. His sons were his life. Blu will be sadly and dearly missed by his two loving sons, Joe Larson of Mondovi and Ben Larson of Eau Claire; his former wife Jeanne Larson of Eau Claire; mother, Ruth Colby Larson of Mondovi; siblings, Pat Larson of Mondovi, Sue Larson and longtime companion Jim of Randolph, WI, Bob (Val) Larson of Oregon, WI, Jane (Michael) Halcomb of Fallon, NV, Ed (Faye) Larson of Mondovi; his aunt Janice Crandall of Madison; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Blu was preceded in death by his father Ole, three infant siblings, paternal grandparents, Albert and Minnie Larson and maternal grandparents, Ray and Georgene Colby; and his brother in law, Galen Larson. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 16 at 6:00 PM at the Poeschel-Talbot Funeral Home in Mondovi with the Rev. Rolf Morck, Pastor of Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi, officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.
