Sonja Darlene Livingston

Sonja Darlene Livingston, age 72, of Buffalo City, WI formerly of New Richmond, WI passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at her home, peacefully and with her loving family at her side. She was born on July 14, 1939 in Sharon, ND a daughter of the late Hans and Mina (Davidson) Hanson. On February 24, 1973 Sonja was united in marriage to James F. Livingston at Huron, SD. Sonja did work several years as a private home healthcare nurse. She attended Anchor Point Church in Wabasha, MN. Sonja was exceptionally proud of her Norwegian heritage and was made evident through her talents with making lefse. Sonja’s lefse was highly sought out by many and often found it hard to keep up with the demand of her talent. Sonja enjoyed taking long drives throughout the countryside enjoying the scenery and looking for deer. She also enjoyed fishing along with feeding and watching birds. Sonja was an avid football fan and liked bus trips to Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing. Sonja was a humane and giving lady who loved animals of all kinds. She would rescue and care for ailing animals with the hope of saving them. Sonja had fondness for Wolves. Her family will remember Sonja for her cooking and baking gifts and the joy of sharing and preparing large family meals. Sonja’s life revolved around her family and her family was her life with her needs always secondary to theirs. Even during her recent illness Sonja needed to make sure that her family would be ok and stay close. Simply, Sonja’s husband, children and grandchildren were the light of her life and nothing meant more to her. Her legacy of love and selflessness will live on in the hearts of her family. Sonja will be deeply missed by her husband James of Buffalo City; her children, Tiffany Livingston of Wabasha, Marissa Keller of Winona, Elmer Clinton (Gaye) West of Florence, SC, Walter Brown of Wabasha and Carmen Vari of Azle, TX; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Leona (Harold) Wenaas of Great Falls, MT; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, two brothers Hilbert and Chester Hanson; one sister Jean Thompson and her grandson, Walter Brown, Jr. preceded Sonja in death. A time of visitation and support for Sonja’s family will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Alma, WI on Wednesday, June 6 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Paul Langmade will be officiating.
