Ronald “Ron” Tamke, age 66, of Fountain City, WI passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Lake Winona Manor. He was born on June 30, 1946 a son of Ludwig and Marie (Wiemer) Tamke. As a young boy, Ron worked for Piggy Duellman. Ron thought of the Duellman's as his second family. Ron was married to Donna Colbenson in Rushford, MN and together they had a daughter, Ronda Jean. They later divorced. Ron was united in marriage to Yvonne Hampton on October 28 1978, the daughter of Basil and Betty Hampton, at Dr. Martin Luther Church. To this union, two children were born, Nathan and Nicole. Ron, early in his life, was employed with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Fountain City for 1 ½ years. For 3 years, he worked and assisted at his father’s business, Fountain City Insurance Agency. Ron owned and operated the Fountain City Mobile Station for five years and was the current owner of Tamke Mobile home Park in Fountain City, owning the park for 40 plus years. Ron also worked for 40 years at Elmer’s Auto Salvage. Ron, over his years of employment became a “million miles” truck driver for Elmer’s. Ron was forced to retire in 1996 due to his illness. Ron was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited as both a donor and sponsor and the National Wild Turkey Federation as well as the NRA. Ron loved to travel all over the Midwest to watch Stock Car Racing with his buddies. If he couldn’t attend a race, you would sure find Ron watching it on TV. He thoroughly enjoyed fantasy racing with his best friend, Peter Borgwardt. Ron was a man with a grateful heart and a humane soul that would allow his family to raise new born animals around his home. Ron will be forever missed by his wife soul mate and best friend, Yvonne; daughter, Ronda (Rodney) Young of Bangor, WI; grandchildren Leah, Cheyenne, Adrianna and Hunter; Son, Nathan (Carol) Tamke and grand animals Weena, Billy, Duncan, Zaide and Puss Puss of Cochrane; daughter, Nicole Tamke (Dylan Coons) and grand animals, Ginny, Callie, Salem, Nika and Jazmine of Rochester; mother in law, Betty Hampton of Buffalo City; brother in law, Dale Hampton; his first wife, Donna (Jerry) Beyer of West Salem. Preceding Ron in death were his parents, and father in law, Basil Hampton. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 7 at 1:00 PM at Dr. Martin Luther Church, Buffalo City. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service at the church.
