Phyllis Lillian (Moy) Glanzman, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, passing away at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born at home on February 22, 1924 in Gilman Valley to Olinda (nee Heck) Moy and William S. Moy. She was baptized by Rev. Wedel and confirmed by Rev. A.G. Hemer at Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Phyllis attended Gilman Valley Grade School and Gilmanton High School, graduating in 1942. In 1944 she graduated from the Buffalo County Teachers College in Alma. She taught in the Devaney Country School for three years, and did substitute teaching at the Norwegian Valley, Gilman Valley, and Seyforth schools. On June 7, 1947 there was a double wedding at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi where Phyllis married Oliver H. Glanzman and her sister Elizabeth married James Heike. On June 7, 1997 Phyllis and Oliver (“Bud”) had the good fortune to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary prior to his passing on December 31, 1997. For many years she gave piano lessons to her children and others. She was also involved with the Friends of Music program in Mondovi for 33 years. While her children were growing up, she taught Sunday School and Summer School and later helped her husband Bud when he led devotions at the American Lutheran Home. Other activities also helped lead a life that was full and challenging. For 30 years she was project leader with the Gilman Valley 4-H Club and also provided judging services at area fairs. She had a lifelong interest in photography and filming which helped to document many family and county activities over a 70 year period. Later in life, she worked for 11 years at the Mondovi High School library, pursued hobbies of jogging, ice racing, performing in the Mondovi Community Band and Choir, and appeared in several productions with the Act 1 theater group of Mondovi.
