Louis F. Glentz, age 83, of Fountain City, formerly of Alma, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 at St. Michaels Assisted Living in Fountain City. He was born on February 18, 1932, a son of the late Albert P. and Agnes (Dost) Glentz. On February 18, 1954, Louis was united in marriage Mary Anne Ehlinger at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wabeno, WI. To this union 9 children were born. Early in Louis’ working days, he was a Merchant Marine, spending months aboard ships throughout the Great Lakes from 1950 to 1959. Louis and his family moved to Menasha area where he was employed at a local papermill. He then found himself moving to Buffalo County after accepting a position with Dairyland Power, a longtime employment that saw him retire as master mechanic in 1990. Louis and his wife first lived in Alma and then built a home for their family in Buffalo City before returning to Alma in 1977. During retirement, Louis and his wife would winter in Alabama. They would later build a home there and made permanent residence there. They moved back to Wisconsin in 2012. Louis was a longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was an active and proud charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Alma Council 6789 serving as Grand Knight from 1978-1980. He was also a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Andrzjewki Assembly 1752 of Arcadia. Louis was an avid bowler and was on many leagues in both Cochrane and Wabasha. When not at work, you could find him tending to his garden or fixing or repairing something in his shop. He was a man of faith and loved his family and spending quality time with them, especially the youngest members. Louis is survived his loving wife of the almost 62 years, Mary Anne; by his children, Joseph (Nancy) of Winona, Thomas (Polly) of Alma, Timothy of Cullman, AL, Mary Lou (Terry) Briggs of Buffalo City, Rose (Jon) Wisneski of Alma, Andrew of Buffalo City, Mark-Fr. Sebastian, OSB of Sheboygan, WI, Jerome (Tammy) of Holmen, WI, Lawrence of Cochrane; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Tony, Earl, Ernest, Russell, Francis, Marion, his twin sister, Caroline and Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alma with Father Brian J. Jazdzewski as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Alma Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 16 from 4:00 PM ending with an offering of the Most Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel. Visitation will also be on Tuesday one hour prior to the Mass at the Church.
