LaVerne Elger Anderson, age 88, of Mondovi, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi. He was born, along with his twin brother, on May 12, 1926 in Dover Township, Buffalo County, WI to Oscar and Johanna Marie (Klingel) Anderson. On May 26, 1945, LaVerne was united in marriage to Josie Olive Risen at the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church Norden. To this marriage was born two children. Josie preceded LaVerne in death on October 5, 2013. Living in Naples Township in Buffalo County, Vern owned and operated a dairy farm until 1971. Vern proudly served the Town of Naples for over a decade as a patrolman of the Town’s roads. Vern was a longtime and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Vern’s life and legacy can be expressed in a few words…A hard worker, great friend, and, mostly, a loving and caring husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to many. LaVerne will be dearly missed by his two children, Sandy (Bill) Hart of Eau Claire and Larry (Jeanne) Anderson of Mondovi; six grandchildren, Lisa (fiancé, Bruce Russell) Kees, Kirk (April) Risen, Kathy (Brian) Rhyner, Greg (Patty) Chambers, Scott (Robin) Anderson, and Laura (Jeremy) Laehn; 17 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; special family friend, Kaye Davie of Eau Claire, who was “just like his daughter”; brothers, Clifford Anderson, Donald (Michele) Anderson, and Jerry (Marilyn) Anderson; one sister, Eleanor (Allen) Duncanson; sisters-in-law, Jean Anderson and Gladys Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Besides his parents and wife, Josie, Vern was preceded in death by his sister Esther, brother Arthur, and his twin brother, LaVere. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 3:30 PM at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel with Chaplain Gary Preston officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 2:30 PM until the hour of the service.
