Kay B. Faulkner

Kay B. Seyforth-Smith-Faulkner Kay B. Faulkner, age 84 of Mondovi, quietly and peacefully passed away as her Irish spirit faded into the night on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire. She was born on March 14, 1936, the daughter of Dutee and Dorothy “Tootie” (Jarvis) Seyforth. Kay grew up in Mondovi, WI, graduated from Mondovi High School, and earned a degree in Home Economics from UW-Stout in Menomonie, WI. On completion of college, Kay had her first daughter, Kari. Shortly after, she moved back to Mondovi and had her second daughter, Mindy. Later, Kay moved to Evansville, WI with her young family where she spent most of her life until she returned home to Mondovi in 2016. While in Evansville, Kay worked for Swiss Family Smokehouse, Union Bank & Trust, Piggly Wiggly, and cleaned for her church, daycares, family, and friends. She was an active member of Evansville’s Congregational United Church of Christ serving on many committees and was best known as the “Coffee Lady.” Kay had a strong passion for bowling, which led to her induction into the South-Central Wisconsin Bowling Hall of Fame in 2013. Along with bowling, Kay loved to bake, can, make jam and fudge for her family and friends. She also got great joy from playing cards with her friends at Mondovi housing where King’s Corner was the game of the day. Kay devoted her life to helping others, volunteering her time for many things; including meals on wheels, church activities, Eastern Star, and The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. If anyone needed anything Kay was first in line to offer her hand and apron. Along with helping and caring for people, Kay had a soft spot for her dogs and cherished their companionship. Kay will be sadly missed by her daughters, Kari (Mike) Gehde and Mindy (Pat) Fichtenbauer; grandchildren, Chelsey Gehde, Cortney Gehde, Collin Gehde, Travis (Sara) Fichtenbauer, Katie Fichtenbauer and Nick Fichtenbauer; brother, Fred (Karen) Seyforth; nieces and nephews; best friend since primary school, Emmy Hurtley; and numerous relatives and friends that she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Marshall Smith and second husband, Robert Faulkner. Private family services were held. Kay will be laid to rest at a later date next to her parents at Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi.
