Katherine Johnston

Katherine "Kate" Johnston, age 87, of Buffalo City, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 2, 1926 in Eau Claire, a daughter of the late Richard and Jennie (Butterfield) Kaentz. On December 31, 1947, Kate was united in marriage to Donald E. Johnston and together they raised two children. Kate will be remembered for finding the good in all things, whether it was people, pets, insects or plants, they all served a purpose in this world. Her family will cherish her attributes and will carry on her humane heart and love of animals. Kate will be sadly missed by her husband of the past 65 years, Donald, two children and their spouses, Joel and Sandra Johnston and Elizabeth "Liz" and Jeffrey Schwab all of Buffalo City, also by six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. besides her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Kalm. At the wishes of Kate, no formal services will be held. To extend her humane heart for pets and those waiting for their forever home, memorials to the Buffalo County Humane association in Kate's name would be forever appreciated. The staff of Talbot- Scenic Rivers Cremation Center assisted the family with arrangements.
