Josie Olive Anderson, age 88, of Mondovi, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi. She was born on September 9, 1925, in the Town of Naples, Buffalo County, a daughter of Sam and Alice (Hoff) Risen. Josie attended and graduated from Mondovi High School. On May 26, 1945, Josie was united in marriage to LaVerne Anderson at the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church Norden. To this marriage was born two children. Josie and her husband raised their family and farmed in Naples Township for fifty years. Josie gave 22 years of employment to the Mondovi School District and also worked at Sam Skare’s clothing store, Coast to Coast and the Farmer’s store. She was a longtime and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi where she served on the Ladies Aide. Josie’s life and legacy can be expressed in a few words…A hard worker, great friend, and, mostly, a loving and caring wife, mom, and grandma. Josie will be dearly missed by her husband of 68 years, LaVerne of Mondovi; two children, Sandy (Bill) Hart of Eau Claire and Larry (Jeanne) Anderson of Mondovi; six grandchilden, Lisa Kees, Kirk (April) Risen, Kathy (Brian) Rhyner, Greg (Patty) Chambers, Scott (Robin) Anderson and Laura (Jeremy) Laehn; 16 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; special family friend, Kaye Davie of Eau Claire, who was “just like her daughter”; brother Jalmer (Mihoko) Risen, and also by other relatives and friends. Josie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 9 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi with Pastor Norman Ruthenbeck officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
