John William Weis

John William “Jack” Weis, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19 at his home with his loving wife and son at his side. He was born on September 21, 1943 at Blue Island, IL a son of George P. and Helen I. (Abbott) Weis. Jack served his Country from April of 1966 – April of 1968 at the Third U.S. Army Medical Lab at Fort McPherson, GA. IN 1966 he married Lynda Carlson. Together, they had three children. They divorced in 1985. In 1968, Jack attended and graduated from Midwest Horseshoeing School of Macomb, IL and practiced horseshoeing until 2005. He worked a total of 27 years at Fiberite/Cytec Engineered Materials of Winona, MN. Jack served his Lord as a member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Fountain City and was active as a council member and also as a Sunday School Teacher. In 1989, Jack was united in marriage to Bonita (Volz) at St. Michael’s. To this union, one son was born. Jack had a deep admiration for horses, he enjoyed riding, shoeing and trimming them. Jack had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed canoeing with his wife Bonnie and deer hunting. He enjoyed watching sports, with the Chicago Bears being “his team”. He had an effection for his family, especially his beloved wife, angel and “sweet pea” Bonnie. Jack will be sadly missed by his wife Bonnie, their son, Kevin, his children Tiffany (Mark Bartasis) of Mesa AZ, Adam J. Weis of Albuquerque NM and Justin (Sarah) Weis of Pueblo, CO Step children, Karen Radatz, USAF, Kelby (Sarah) Radatz of Buffalo City and Casey (Amanda) Radatz of Arcadia,WI; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Jill Matthiesen of Blue Island, IL, Penny Borson of Dallas, TX, Christine (Bob) McNinch of Las Vegas, NV; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Besides his parents, a sister, Vicky Titsworth and a nephew, Randy preceded Jack in death. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jack will be held on Friday, November 25 at 1:00 PM at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fountain City with Pastor Elroy V. Conradt officiation. A memorial gathering to comfort Jack’s family will be held two hours prior to the memorial service at the church.
