H. Irene Wick, age 89, of Alma, WI passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN. She was born on October 20, 1923 in Minneapolis to Lawrence and Florence (Gibson) Johnson. On August 26, 1942 Irene was united in marriage to Dell C. Wick in Wabasha. To this loving union, 5 children were born. Dell preceded Irene in death on June 15, 1998. Irene and Dell, for many years, owned, operated and worked side by side on Sunny Brook farm in Praag, WI. In March of 1978, they built a home and moved to Alma. After moving off the farm, Irene worked at the Alma Hotel and the Silver Moon. Irene was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma where she was a part of the W-ELCA, bible study and quilters group. She and her husband loved to camp and travel, including trips to Las Vegas, Alaska, Hawaii, Branson, Mexico, Germany and Switzerland. Irene will be remembered for always needing to stay busy and as a very talented embroiderer. She also enjoyed gardening, being with her family and "searching for beanie babies." The most precious treasure to Irene was her entire family, especially her grandchildren that brought joy to her life. Her legacy and memory will live on forever. Irene will be sadly missed by her 5 children, Allyn (Sharon) of Gilmanton, Wayne (Marilyn) of Cochrane, Kathryn (Curtis) Noll of Alma, James (Sharon) of Alma and Donald (Kolleen) of Grand Forks, ND; her loving grandchildren, Tarin, Jeffrey, Michelle, Jennifer, Wendy, Scott, Angela, Daniel, Amy, Thomas, Carmen, Tony, Joseph, Erin and Sam; 32 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; niece Gail Bork and numerous special friends. Preceding Irene in death are her parents, husband Dell, sister Louise, two infant sisters; and twin grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma with Pastor Joel Bacon officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cream, WI.
