Harriett Mae (Schreiner) Engler, age 83, of Buffalo City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at her home with her loving and devoted family at her side. She was born on September 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Gueldner) Schreiner. Harriett attended Gilmanton High School, graduating with the class of 1952. On December 21, 1953, Harriett was united in marriage to Dean Engler. To this union four children were born. Dean preceded Harriett in death on April 30, 2009. While her husband Dean served our Country as a member of the U.S. Air Force, Harriett and Dean lived on Air Force bases in both Topeka, KS and Lincoln, NE for three years. The then returned to the Alma area in 1957. They then made their home in Cochrane for 16 years before moving to Buffalo City where Harriett and Dean resided ever since. Harriett worked at La Crosse Milling Co. until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Cochrane. Following retirement, Harriett enjoyed traveling. Harriett’s greatest enjoyment and love was for her entire family. Harriett will be sadly missed by her children, Pati (Rusty) Harm, Steve (Mary) Engler, Vicky (Steve) Krzoska and Mary (the late, Jason) White; grandchildren, Nikki (Mike) Dittrich, Angie (Will) Evans, Chad (Missi) Krzoska, Amber (Nick) Frederixon, Shawn (Stephanie) Harm, Heather (Brian) Asp and Shannon (Donovan Kramer) White; great grandchildren, Colton and Trenton Krzoska, Payton Harris and Logan Evans, Kylah, Lydia and Madalynn Frederixon, Ryland Harm, Zoe and Haley White and Jason Asp; sisters in law, Joyce Engler and Dianne Engler; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and loving husband, Dean, Harriett was preceded in death by her sisters and their spouses, Ruth (Stub) Gates and Alta (Garvin) Parish; brother and his wife, Boyce “Bud” (Beulah) Schreiner; her brother in law, Ken Engler and her son in law, Jason White. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Harriett will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel. Enurnment will follow at Buffalo City Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
