Ervin Arnold “Erv” Anderson, age 94, of Strum, passed over to his new heavenly home Thursday, March 15th at Mayo Health System, Oakridge Care Center in Osseo. He was born on December 9, 1917 in Strum a son of Erick and Alieda “Ella” (Knutson) Anderson. On October 25, 1941, Ervin married Evelyn Odegard at the Thompson Valley Lutheran Church in rural Mondovi. Evelyn preceded Ervin in death on March 10, 2003. Ervin was a member of the Viking Flying Club in Strum, enjoying the love of flying and was a licensed pilot for over 40 years, until he was 90. He was also a member of Central Lutheran Church of Mondovi, serving as the usher captain for many years, and the Sons of Norway along with being a member of a classic car club. In 1950 Ervin founded Hilltop Tractor Farm of Mondovi, specializing in the sales of farm equipment. Ervin and his wife moved to Strum after his retirement in 1978. He constructed the Beef River Museum which consisted of antique and classic cars. He hosted bus tours to view his collection. Ervin had many hobbies during his life such as hunting, tractor pulling, bagging a Dahl Sheep in Alaska. He also loved fishing and traveling with his wife to Norway, Mexico, the Holy Land and many states. Ervin will be sadly missed by his three children, Yvonne Kittelson of Springfield, MN, Barbara Rider of Andover, MN and Steven Anderson of Mondovi; 9 grandchildren, Marnie (Barry) Schwerr of Eagan, MN, Kristine Kittelson of Houston, TX, Tammy Thunstrum of Elk River, MN, Tonya Rider of Lonsdale, MN and Tracie (Jeff) Rider-Foss of Bloomington, MN; Colter (Sara) Anderson of Milwaukee, Chance Anderson of Mondovi, Jasmine Anderson of Mondovi and Steele Anderson of Mondovi; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; also by nieces and nephews. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn, sons, Erling and Dean Anderson; siblings, Sam Anderson, Edna Erickson, Palma Erickson and three half siblings, Alfred Anderson, Cora Semingson and Ludwig Anderson. Services will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 11:00 AM at Central Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Poeschel-Talbot Funeral Home, Mondovi and again on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
