Edwin Vern Maassen

Edwin Vern Maasen, age 92 of Durand, WI, formerly of Alma, WI passed away July 6, 2014 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand. Ed was born on August 22, 1921 in Tell, WI to Peter H. and Anna (Wald) Maassen. Ed grew up and farmed on the family farm until 1970 when he moved to Durand. In Durand he worked for the canning company and later worked at Bauer L.P. Gas Company for 20 years, until he retired in 1992. Ed enjoyed woodworking, gardening and flowers. Ed is survived by 7 cousins, Eunice Eckhardt, Sally Wierson, Dale Wald, Kenneth Wald, Jerry Wald, and Charlotte Indigger. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt and uncle, John and Norma Wald, and his cousin Rodney Wald. A visitation and funeral service will be at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma, WI on Wednesday July 9 at 11:00 AM with a service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Alma Public Cemetery.
