Arnold R. Retzloff

Arnold R. Retzloff, age 77, passed away on October 6, 2018 at his home under hospice care. Arnie was born on September 5, 1941 to Melvin and Arvilla (Crist) Retzloff in the Town of Rusk, in Dunn County. He attended a one room school in elementary school before transferring to Menomonie High School, graduating in 1960. After graduating high school, Arnie served in the United States Marine Corp for two years. Arnie had many professions in his life. He hauled milk (canned and bulk), five semis, dump trucks and a school bus. He also worked as a farm laborer, worked in a turkey processing plant, was a professional fisherman and a fishing guide and ran his own sports shop where the coffee pot was usually on. His final job was working for 13 years for Winona Lighting Studios. Arnie never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking with people he met and tried to help anyone who needed his help. One of his favorite pastimes was watching wildlife outside his hunting stand or outside his living room window. Arnie married Marie Lemon in 1962 and they later divorced. He married Judith Baldwin in 1988. Although they divorced in 1995, they remarried in October of 1997 and had 21 more years together. He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters, Bobbijo Pepper and Ann (Jeffrey) Stirn and grandchildren, Danielle (Simon Young) Wick, Francis Mueller, Laura (Taylor Tremaine) and Kollin Stirn. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; cousins; friends and all of his informally adopted children and grandchildren, Kim and Lisa Grotjahn (Jon and Ashley and Trinity), Gene Grotjahn, Steven and Connie Rasmussen and Rob Oium and Lauretta Lee (Robert, Jr., Austin and Christine). He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Alice Baldwin; daughters, Maryanne Retzloff and Sheila Retzloff; grandson, Johnathon Retzloff; brothers, Ernst Retzloff and Clifford Retzloff; sister-in-law, Rose Retzloff; brother-in-law, Robert Baldwin; “adopted grandson”, Dustin Grotjahn; “second parents”, Ray and Frances Steele, Willis and Mary Dix and Robert and Delora Smith.
