James F. Auer

James F. Auer, 67, of Buffalo City, died at his home unexpectedly, July 7, 2017. Jim was born May 24, 1950 in Wabasha, Minn. to Myles and Marian (Keller) Auer. He graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City High School in 1968, and then went to Minneapolis where he earned a degree from Northwest Institute of Medical Laboratory Technique. Jim served in the Army from 1970 to 1972. He worked at Badger Foundry before working for 27 years for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Jim loved to be on the river, where he spent many fun hours with friends and family. Jim also loved to travel and took many beautiful pictures of the many places he visited. He also had a green thumb and could make any houseplant or garden thrive. He is survived by his brother, Barry (Karen), nephew, Scott (Patti) Auer, niece, Melissa Sulentic, nephew, Jason Rinn, along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, LuAnn Rinn. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place at the Cochrane V.F.W. on Saturday July 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. Any memorials can be made to American Cancer Society to support cancer research.
