George Heinemann

George G. Heinemann, age 94 of Strum, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Dove Healthcare - Osseo. He was born on February 5, 1923, in Pepin, the son of George and Agnes (Bernhardt) Heinemann. George attended Pepin High School, graduating in 1941. He then joined the CCC as any Army Clerk. George went to Chicago and worked for the Rauland Corporation and attended night school. He later joined the Navy and attended the University of Wisconsin Navy School and received a diploma in communications. George served in the South Pacific aboard a Navy Sub chaser in communications. and took part in the invasions of the Gilbert Islands in 1942. He was honorable discharged from the Navy in November of 1945. He then attended Stout University, graduating with a Bachelors and a Masters degree. George had the privilege of teaching at many fine schools in many different places such as; Brimly, Michigan, Arkansaw, WI, Plum City and Eleva-Strum where he spent most of his career. After his retirement from the school, he did a lot of substitute teaching. He was a lifetime member of the Eleva American Legion and VFW, a member of the Shriner Marching Band and the Mondovi Masonic Lodge. George was also a member of the Strum Lutheran Church. He married Lenore Wright in April 30, 1966 and were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary April 30, 2016. George will be sadly missed by his wife, Lenore of Strum; step-children, Robert (Mary) Wright, Rita Kaiser and Richard (Debbie) Wright; grandchildren; Kari Orrender, Cory (Jennifer) Wright, Jill (Jeff) Moore, Scott Kaiser, Jennifer (Aaron) Larson, Jon Wright and Jason and Joel Trier; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Salava and Ruth Boeser; nephews and nieces, Sharon Baker Georgia Leahy Mary Jane Tarlton and David Champeau; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Agnes; sisters, Dorothy Baker and Anna Carlile; son-in-law, Ron Kaiser; brothers-in-law, Richard Salava, Floyd Boeser and Donnie Ulness and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ulness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Strum with Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial will take place at the Riverside Lutheran Cemetery, Mondovi. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the church and then again one hour prior to the service time.
